The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased its Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) price by ₦100 per litre, raising the refinery’s gantry price from ₦1,570 to ₦1,670 per litre, effective midnight on August 21, 2026.
The latest adjustment represents a 6.4 percent increase in the refinery’s diesel price and marks a reversal of the lower pricing level the refinery had maintained in recent weeks.
At ₦1,670/L, the new price is ₦100/L higher than Dangote’s previous ₦1,570/L rate. The increase also places the refinery’s diesel price ₦21/L above the ₦1,649/L landing cost, while remaining ₦30/L below the ₦1,700/L prices listed by several Lagos depots on August 20.
African Terminal, Integrated, Duport, Ibachem, Gulf Treasure and Pivot were all listed at ₦1,700/L, leaving Dangote’s revised gantry price below those depot rates.
The Lagos depot prices had therefore remained above Dangote’s refinery price even before the latest adjustment, although the refinery’s increase reduces the price advantage available to buyers sourcing directly from its gantry. The revised price comes as the ₦1,649/L landing cost of imported diesel provides a benchmark for assessing domestic AGO pricing.
The increase comes amid a rise in international crude oil prices, with Brent crude recently trading above $93 per barrel as heightened tensions involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz continue to support the global oil market.
The price adjustment is expected to affect diesel prices across the downstream market, particularly for marketers and businesses that rely heavily on AGO for transportation, power generation, and industrial operations.
Further details on the new refinery price and its impact on depot and retail diesel prices are expected to emerge as marketers adjust to the revised gantry rate.
