Dangote Plans CNG Conversion for Fleet by 2026

Dangote Cement Plc is set to transition its fleet to compressed natural gas (CNG) as the primary fuel source by mid-2026, according to the company’s Group Managing Director, Arvind Pathak.

In a statement released Sunday, the Dangote Group outlined its commitment to green energy, with Pathak emphasising the company’s strategy to operate a CNG-powered fleet. “We are heavily investing in expanding our CNG fueling infrastructure, which will ensure reliable access to CNG across our growing fleet,” Pathak said.

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, revealed the company has committed $280 million toward CNG vehicles, aligning with Nigeria’s shift towards cleaner energy. “We believe in supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership on energy efficiency, as seen in the Federal Government’s new policy under the Renewed Hope,” Dangote stated. “This investment reinforces our commitment to a greener future and aligns with Nigeria’s journey to sustainable energy.”

This announcement aligns with the Presidential Initiative on CNG’s recent expansion efforts across Nigeria, offering CNG as a viable alternative to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for a cleaner energy landscape.
