Dangote Refinery Adds 16 Marketers Amid Price Changes

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has broadened its retail footprint, approving 16 additional oil marketers to distribute its petrol nationwide. The move comes as the refinery adjusts prices to reflect evolving market dynamics.

Industry sources told Petroleumprice.ng that the expansion aims to deepen market penetration, improve supply efficiency, and strengthen competition across Nigeria’s downstream sector.

The newly approved marketers include TotalEnergies, Garima Petroleum, Sunbeth Energies, Sobax Nigeria Limited, Virgin Forest Energy, Sixxco Oil Ltd., NU Synergy, Soroman Limited, Jezco Oil Nigeria Ltd, Jengre, Cocean, Kifayat, Triumph Golden, Sifem Global, Riquest, and Mamu Oil.

The refinery’s latest price review, at ₦820 per Litre, is its 14th adjustment since operations began earlier this year, sparking debate among market players. Analysts say the growing list of distributors could help stabilise retail prices by easing supply bottlenecks and improving geographical reach.

However, some independent marketers warn that the benefits will depend on consistent ex-depot pricing and timely product allocation. “Adding more marketers is a good step, but without a steady supply and fair pricing, the impact will be limited,” one depot operator said.

The Dangote Refinery, commissioned in January 2025, has quickly emerged as a key player in Nigeria’s petrol supply chain, reducing import dependency but also reshaping price trends through frequent adjustments.
