Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its ex-depot prices for petrol and diesel, cutting the gantry price of petrol to ₦1,165 per litre from ₦1,215 per litre, while diesel has been lowered to ₦1,570 per litre from ₦1,650 per litre.
The new prices, which take effect from August 6, 2026, represent a ₦50 per litre reduction on both products and come as competition in the downstream petroleum market continues to intensify.
The latest adjustment places the refinery's petrol price below prevailing private depot rates in Lagos. Market checks by Petroleumprice.ng showed that Aiteo maintained its petrol price at ₦1,215 per litre on August 4 and August 5, while Ardova sold at ₦1,216 per litre on August 4. On August 5, Lister and AA Rano also offered petrol at ₦1,216 per litre, leaving Dangote's revised price at least ₦50 per litre lower than the quoted depot prices.
The refinery announced that its free petrol delivery programme remains in operation under the first phase of its nationwide distribution initiative.
The programme currently covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Abuja and Delta States, with additional states expected to be included in subsequent phases.
Eligible customers purchasing a minimum of 250,000 litres of petrol can access the free delivery service.
The latest reduction is expected to influence pricing across the downstream petroleum market, where marketers and depot operators have continued to adjust ex-depot prices in response to changing market conditions. The move is also likely to increase competitive pressure on private depot operators, whose petrol prices currently remain above the refinery's newly announced ex-depot rate.
