The Dangote Refinery has continued to strengthen its position in the regional aviation fuel market with the export of 88,000 metric tonnes of Jet A1 to Namibia and Lome through two separate cargo shipments loaded at its Lekki facility.
Shipping data obtained by Petroleumprice.ng showed that the vessel Kriti Rubby loaded 44,000 metric tonnes of Jet A1 from Dangote Refinery for export to Namibia.
The vessel arrived at berth on May 10, 2026, and completed loading operations ahead of its expected departure on May 11. The cargo was chartered by global energy trader Vitol.
In a separate shipment, another vessel, STI Magnetic, also loaded 44,000 metric tonnes of Jet A1 from the refinery for export to Lome.
The vessel arrived on May 10 and berthed on May 11, with departure scheduled for May 12. The cargo shipment was chartered by commodity trading company Trafigura.
The latest export movements further highlight Dangote Refinery’s growing role in supplying refined petroleum products across African markets, particularly aviation fuel, which has witnessed increasing regional demand amid tightening global supply dynamics.
Market operators noted that the refinery’s ability to load large-volume Jet A1 cargoes for international destinations reflects improving operational stability and expanding export capacity from the Lekki-based facility.
Industry analysts also stated that continued exports of aviation fuel could strengthen Nigeria’s position within Africa’s downstream petroleum trade while supporting foreign exchange inflows through refined product exports.
The refinery, with a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, has increasingly expanded exports of diesel, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products to regional and international markets in recent months.
