Dangote Refinery Halts Petrol Loading, May Announce Price Increase on Monday

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has again suspended the loading of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), with truck-out activities currently halted at the facility pending further directives from management.

Industry sources told Petroleumprice.ng that PMS loading has been stopped until further notice, while tanker drivers already positioned for lifting have been asked to exit the refinery premises as operations remain on hold.

The latest development has triggered fresh speculation across Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector that another upward review of the refinery’s ex-depot petrol price could be announced as early as Monday.

Market participants note that the refinery has recently followed a pattern of suspending loading operations before announcing price adjustments.

A similar situation occurred on Friday, March 6, at about 2:00 a.m. WAT, when the refinery halted petrol loading before later announcing a ₦121 increase in its ex-depot PMS price to ₦995 per litre.

That adjustment came just days after an earlier review on March 2, when Dangote Refinery raised its petrol gantry price from ₦774 to ₦874 per litre, reflecting mounting pressure within the domestic fuel market.

The repeated suspension of loading and subsequent price adjustments have heightened market sensitivity among marketers and depot operators, many of whom monitor developments at the refinery before making pricing decisions.

As of the time of reporting, PMS loading at the Dangote Refinery remains suspended, with industry stakeholders awaiting further communication from management regarding the next pricing direction.
