Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed its free petrol delivery programme, with the first phase covering Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) and Delta as it expands its direct distribution network across Nigeria.
Under the programme, marketers in the six locations can purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, at ₦1,075 per litre, with free delivery, a 10-day credit facility for qualified buyers and a minimum purchase volume of 250,000 litres, according to details released by the refinery on Wednesday.
The refinery said additional states will be incorporated as subsequent phases of the nationwide rollout commence.
The development comes weeks after Dangote Refinery discontinued its consortium distribution arrangement, ending an exclusive supply structure that previously involved marketers including NIPCO Plc/11 Plc, MRS, TotalEnergies, Conoil, AA Rano, AYM Shafa, Rainoil/Eterna, Ardova Plc and NNPC Retail, among others.
The move opened direct product loading to all qualified marketers, broadening access to supply and increasing competition in the downstream petroleum market.
Market analysts say the return of the free delivery scheme is expected to reduce logistics costs for participating marketers, improve product availability across the initial rollout states and strengthen competitive pricing. The programme also provides qualified buyers with a 10-day credit window, a measure that could improve liquidity for marketers while supporting wider distribution of petrol as the nationwide expansion progresses.
