Dangote Refinery has reversed its earlier diesel price reduction, adjusting the ex-depot price from ₦1,600 to ₦1,700 per litre. According to the refinery's communiqué, the revised AGO price of ₦1,700 per litre, would be effective 27th May 2026.
Checks by Petroluemprice.ng confirms that the decision was taken to protect coastal traders who had already purchased diesel at higher costs and were still holding significant stock.
Industry operators say the move is aimed at preventing losses among these marketers and ensuring a fair adjustment across the supply chain.
The refinery’s reversal is expected to stabilise trading activities in the downstream sector, where sudden price changes can disrupt inventory planning and margins.
Analysts view the adjustment as a corrective step to balance pricing fairness with market stability as Nigeria’s refining landscape continues to evolve.
