Nigeria’s growing role in regional petroleum supply was further reinforced in April as fresh shipping data reviewed by Petroleumprice.ng shows that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery exported five cargoes of a combined 190,527 metric tonnes of refined petroleum products to Lome, Togo, between April 3 and April 21, 2026, underscoring the refinery’s expanding export footprint across West Africa.
An analysis of Dangote Refinery’s April loading operations indicates that five export vessels completed loading and departed for Lome during the period under review, evacuating Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) under cargoes handled by WAPS for major international offtakers including MOCOH, Vitol and Trafigura.
The first shipment recorded was TORM SUCCESS, which loaded 38,000 metric tonnes of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for discharge at Lome, Togo, and sailed on April 3, 2026 under an offtake arrangement for MOCOH.
This was followed by CMC ANCUD, which evacuated 34,505 metric tonnes of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the Togolese port, departing Dangote Refinery on April 5, 2026 under a cargo programme handled for Vitol.
On the same day, KRITI RUBY loaded 41,974 metric tonnes of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) and sailed for Lome under an export arrangement linked to Vitol, marking Dangote Refinery’s first major jet fuel cargo into the regional hub in April.
In the diesel segment, NENNE transported 38,083 metric tonnes of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) to Lome for Vitol, sailing on April 14, 2026, further extending Dangote’s middle distillate supply into the West African market.
Another aviation fuel cargo was executed later in the month by AGISILAOS, which departed Dangote Refinery on April 21, 2026, carrying 37,965 metric tonnes of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) to the Togolese discharge port under an offtake programme for Trafigura.
Petroleumprice.ng analysis shows that the five vessels supplied Lome with a combined 72,505 metric tonnes of PMS, 79,939 metric tonnes of ATK and 38,083 metric tonnes of AGO between April 3 and April 21, confirming the refinery’s growing consistency in regional clean fuel exports. Of the total cargoes moved, Vitol accounted for three vessels, MOCOH handled one PMS cargo, while Trafigura lifted one ATK cargo, highlighting the strong participation of global commodity traders in Dangote’s regional export flows.
The April export programme also reinforces Dangote Refinery’s increasing strategic influence in West Africa’s downstream fuel trade, with Lome gradually emerging as a major receiving hub for petrol, diesel and aviation fuel cargoes sourced from the Lagos-based refinery.
As refined petroleum exports continue to scale across neighbouring markets, analysts say the steady stream of cargo departures into Lome reflects broader shifts in regional petroleum sourcing patterns, where buyers are increasingly turning to Dangote Refinery as a dependable primary supply outlet.
The sustained vessel movement also signals stronger integration of Nigeria into West Africa’s marine fuel redistribution chain, a development market watchers believe could reshape refined product trade balances across the sub-region in the months ahead.
