Dangote Petroleum Refinery received an average of 735,000 barrels of crude oil per day in October, setting a monthly record for the second consecutive month as deliveries continued to exceed the facility’s stated 700,000 barrels per day upgraded capacity.

The October volume rose from 665,000 b/d in September, while the refinery recorded a monthly-high 23 cargo deliveries. The figures were reported by Argus, which tracks crude shipments to the facility.

Crude receipts have climbed since scheduled maintenance on the refinery’s crude distillation unit (CDU) in the first quarter. Deliveries averaged 590,000 b/d between January and October, compared with 410,000 b/d across 2025. Since April, the average has reached 650,000 b/d.

Only minor maintenance on the refinery’s 218,000 b/d residual fluid catalytic cracker in July interrupted the upward trend in crude deliveries following the CDU work.

Nigerian crude grades accounted for 80 percent of October receipts, down from 87 percent in September. The remaining volume came entirely from U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI).

Bonny Light was the largest single grade, averaging 165,000 b/d, followed by WTI at 140,000 b/d and Qua Iboe at 95,000 b/d. Other receipts included Amenam at 65,000 b/d, Forcados at 60,000 b/d, and 35,000 b/d each of Escravos, Brass River, Utapate, CJ Blend and Bonga.

The refinery also received 25,000 b/d of Cawthorne and 10,000 b/d of Okwuibome.

The October crude slate had a weighted average API gravity of 36.9 degrees and sulphur content of 0.15 percent, unchanged from September. For January to October, the average was 37.1 degrees API and 0.15 percent sulphur, close to the 2025 average of 36.8 degrees API and 0.2 percent sulphur.

Further deliveries appear likely to sustain the high intake rate in November. Two cargoes of about one million barrels each, carrying Escravos and Forcados, were near the refinery’s discharge buoys, while a similarly sized Amenam shipment was en route.
