Depot Prices Hold Steady Across Key Markets Despite Oil Price Volatility

Depot prices of petroleum products remained largely unchanged on April 20, 2026, with stability observed across major distribution hubs despite earlier expectations of possible volatility heading into the weekend.

This comes even as global oil benchmarks moved higher, with Brent crude rising to $94.16 per barrel (+4.18%) and WTI crude at $87.75 per barrel (+4.65%), signalling renewed upward pressure in the international market. Despite this, domestic depot pricing has yet to reflect any immediate reaction.

Market data reviewed by Petroleumprice.ng shows a calm trading environment across Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt, and Calabar depots, where prices hovered within narrow bands, reflecting a balanced supply situation and reduced short term pressure on the downstream market.

In Lagos, Premium Motor Spirit, petrol, prices remained clustered around ₦1204 to ₦1207 per litre across key depots. Dangote (₦1204), Rainoil (₦1206), Pinnacle (₦1204), Nipco (₦1206), Aiteo (₦1205) and Bono (₦1206) all held steady, indicating minimal movement throughout the day. Other depots including Gulf Treasure, Ascon, Quest, and A A Rano maintained similar levels at ₦1206 to ₦1207 per litre.

Automotive Gas Oil, diesel, prices in Lagos showed the same steady pattern, largely ranging between ₦1751 and ₦1775 per litre. Dangote (₦1751), Nipco (₦1755), Aiteo (₦1759), Duport (₦1760), Menj (₦1765), Gulf Treasure (₦1765), Ibachem (₦1760), and Swift (₦1775) all reflected a stable pricing structure with only marginal adjustments.

In Warri, petrol prices remained within ₦1228 to ₦1230 per litre, with Danmarna (₦1228), Pinnacle (₦1228), and Rainoil (₦1230). Diesel prices were similarly steady, with Danmarna (₦1820), Nipco (₦1825), and First Fortune (₦1824), while reviewed prices showed Prudent (₦1800) and Nipco (₦1800).

Port Harcourt depots recorded petrol prices at ₦1225 to ₦1230 per litre, with Masters (₦1225) following a slight review, while Sigmund (₦1230) and others held at similar levels. Diesel prices in the region remained firm at ₦1860, as seen with Matrix (₦1860) and Sigmund (₦1860).

In Calabar, petrol prices were unchanged at ₦1230 per litre across Sobaz, Soroman, and Northwest depots, further reinforcing the broader market stability.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices in Lagos recorded an upward adjustment, rising to ₦1,150 per kilogramme. The increase reflects a ₦100 jump from the previous average of about ₦1,050 per kilogramme recorded last week, indicating a fresh price movement in the cooking gas segment even as other fuel prices remained largely stable.

Overall, the absence of sharp movements across depots suggests that supply remains sufficient in the short term, even as global oil prices trend upward. The steady pricing trend indicates that marketers are maintaining positions without reacting aggressively to external pressures, at least for now.

Market watchers note that while the rise in crude benchmarks could introduce upward pressure in the coming days, the current depot landscape reflects a pause in volatility, with prices holding firm across major supply corridors.
