Iran's oil minister, Mohsen Paknejad, has resigned, and Hamid Bovard, head of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), has been named acting minister.

Mehdi Tabatabaei, deputy head of communications at the president's office, said President Masoud Pezeshkian accepted the resignation on Sunday and that Paknejad had asked to leave for personal reasons some time ago.
