The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has announced its plans to attract $30 billion in investments by 2027, and a total of $60 billion by 2030.
New CEO Sets Bold Goals
The Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, shared these targets during a staff town hall meeting in Abuja. This was his first major briefing since assuming office.
Ojulari said the company wants to boost crude oil production to over two million barrels per day by 2027 and hit three million by 2030. NNPC also plans to increase oil refining capacity and expand gas production. By 2027, it aims to refine 200,000 barrels per day and reach 500,000 by 2030. Gas production is set to grow from 10 to 12 billion cubic feet per day in the same period.
Strategy to Reach Targets
Ojulari said NNPC will restructure its business to be more flexible and efficient. The company will use data to make better decisions, measure staff performance closely, and work closely with partners and regulators. He added that controlling the company’s public image is now a top priority.
“These targets represent more than numbers, they offer hope, jobs, and energy for millions of Nigerians,” he said.
A New Era for NNPC
Ojulari described NNPC as a modern company that’s leading Nigeria’s energy future. He urged workers to take pride in the organisation’s journey and support its next steps as a limited liability company. He stressed the need for teamwork, transparency, and accountability.
Putting People First
He promised a workplace where staff, both experienced and young can grow and succeed. He also said management would work closely with unions to build trust and shared goals.
“We know our people are our biggest strength. We want to create a space where everyone feels valued and inspired. Together, we will build a strong, competitive NNPC that all Nigerians can be proud of,” Ojulari said.
He called his new role a great honour and said the company plays a vital role in shaping Nigeria’s future. “The time to deliver on our promises is now,” he told the staff.
