The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced that its procurement operations will migrate to a cloud-based system on the SAP Ariba network starting January 1, 2025.
In a statement shared on X on Thursday, Uzoma Emelife, NNPC’s Chief Supply Chain Officer, said the move aligns with the company’s digital transformation strategy, which aims to enhance business capabilities, boost competitiveness, and improve overall performance.
To facilitate this transition, NNPC has scheduled a Suppliers’ Summit themed “Reshaping the Future of Procurement and Supplier Management.” The event is set to take place on December 3, 2024, and is designed to familiarise vendors with contracting opportunities on the Ariba platform.
“This remarkable step will bring our esteemed vendors in touch with contracting opportunities on the NNPC Ariba Platform, a secure and exclusive marketplace tailored for end-to-end procurement of goods and services,” Emelife stated.
“We are confident that this enablement will further enhance the petroleum industry contracting cycle efficiency and reduce costs in line with the Presidential Directive on Reduction of Petroleum Sector Contracting Costs and Timelines, 2024.
“Going forward, all stages of procurement—including issuance of RFQs/RFPs, submission and evaluation of bids, contract negotiations, issuance of purchase orders, and processing of invoices—will all happen on the NNPC Ariba platform.
“This will enhance our suppliers’ experience, minimise human interface, improve process transparency, and foster collaboration and best practices.
“To achieve a smooth cutover by 1st January 2025, we are involving our esteemed suppliers to be part of this journey from its onset.”
The statement highlighted that summit attendees would gain insights into registering and creating supplier profiles on the new platform, navigating the portal’s functionalities, understanding procurement workflows and timelines, and adopting best practices for successful collaboration with NNPC.
