NNPCL Raises Petrol Prices by ₦100 as Dangote, Marketers Adjust Rates Nationwide

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has increased petrol prices across its retail outlets, with pump prices rising by about ₦100 per litre in key cities, reflecting ongoing adjustments in response to global crude oil trends and supply pressures.

At NNPC stations in Lagos, petrol now sells at ₦1,330 per litre, up from ₦1,230, while in Abuja, prices have risen to ₦1,361 per litre from ₦1,260, according to a survey by Legit.ng. Similar price levels were observed in other states, including ₦1,335 per litre in Anambra State and ₦1,330 per litre in Borno State.

The adjustment comes as marketers across the country continue to revise pump prices in line with rising international crude oil costs and supply constraints affecting the downstream sector.

Marketers adjust prices amid supply pressures

MRS Oil Nigeria Plc has also implemented a price review, setting its new pump price for Premium Motor Spirit at ₦1,332 per litre. The company indicated that its ex depot delivery price stands at ₦1,290 per litre, while self collection is priced at ₦1,282 per litre, according to data from Petroleumprice.ng.

The firm directed its retail outlets to adopt the new pricing structure immediately and reopened its order portal for fresh supply bookings.

Similarly, Ardova Plc has raised its pump price in Lagos to ₦1,350 per litre from ₦1,230. Market observations show that most filling stations are now dispensing petrol within the ₦1,330 to ₦1,355 per litre range.

Dangote refinery price adjustments

The pricing changes follow recent increases at Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, which raised its gantry price of petrol to ₦1,275 per litre. The latest adjustment represents the second increase within 24 hours, after an earlier revision to ₦1,245 per litre.

The new gantry price took effect from March 21, 2026, replacing previous rates, as global crude oil prices continue to trend upward.

Broader pricing trend

The latest increases are expected to sustain upward pressure on fuel costs nationwide, with potential implications for inflation and transport expenses.

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that the average retail price of petrol stood at ₦1,034.76 in January 2026, representing a year-on-year decline from ₦1,258.34 recorded in January 2025, and a slight month-on-month decrease from ₦1,048.63 in December 2025.
