Oil marketers are experiencing significant delays at Lagos depots, particularly at the OBAT Oil depot in Apapa LGA, Lagos, due to a backlog of unloaded trucks.
The petroleum products offloaded at the OBAT depot were supplied by Rahamaniyya Oil & Gas Energy Ltd.
For several weeks, companies that have already made payments have yet to receive their products.
Petroleumprice learnt that numerous trucks have been waiting for over two weeks without being serviced.
One source revealed, “The process has been extremely slow. On some days, they manage to load fewer than ten trucks.”
The source added, “The delays are largely due to banks not expediting payments to lessees. There is an urgent need for greater efficiency in this process.”
Additionally, the prices of the products paid for weeks ago have since increased, adding more pressure on the marketers.
Another vessel is expected to berth today at the OBAT depot. The vessel is reportedly from Nepal Oil, potentially increasing supply—but whether this will ease the backlog remains to be seen.
