Otedola Backs Tinubu’s Reforms, Hails Dangote Refinery

Femi Otedola, Nigerian billionaire and investor, has described the Dangote Refinery as the “eighth wonder of the modern era.” He made this remark after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu toured the massive oil and petrochemical facility in Lagos.

Otedola shared his thoughts in a post on X (formerly Twitter), praising both the refinery and the leadership that made it possible.

“I Witnessed History,” Says Otedola

In his post, Otedola wrote, “Today, I witnessed history. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our visionary leader, visited the $20 billion Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Plant. It is the largest single-train refinery in the world. An eighth wonder of the modern era. Built by my dear friend and brother, Aliko Dangote.”

He also commended the recent commissioning of the Deep Sea Port Access Road in Lekki. The road connects the Dangote Fertiliser Plant to Eleko Junction, forming a critical link within the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

Otedola Credits Tinubu’s Long-Term Vision

Otedola recalled that Tinubu, as governor of Lagos State, envisioned the Lekki industrial hub over 20 years ago. “Back then, he imagined an economic powerhouse on the Atlantic coast,” Otedola said. “Today, that vision stands tall in steel, concrete, and ambition.”

He described Tinubu as a leader who takes bold decisions, even if they are unpopular. “A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be,” he added.

Support for Nigeria’s Future

Otedola expressed confidence in Nigeria’s progress and pledged support for Tinubu’s economic reforms. “Nigeria is rising,” he wrote. “Those of us who believe in her will continue to support the bold reforms that will make her the greatest transformation story of the 21st century.”
