OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week will hold its 20th anniversary edition from October 25 to 30 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, with energy security, regional trade and investment as the main subjects, the organisers have said.
In a statement on Friday, the organisers said the event will run under the theme "Secure Energy, Shared Prosperity" and bring together policymakers, regulators, operators and investors. The conference and exhibition will hold from October 26 to 29.
The OTL Africa said the programme will examine how Africa can use its energy resources, expand refining capacity and grow its markets to secure supply and keep products affordable, at a time of shifting petroleum trade flows, foreign exchange pressure and higher financing costs.
A session on Nigeria's downstream market will cover competition, investment in domestic refining and consumer protection. Other sessions will address refinery competitiveness, feedstock strategy, West African fuel markets, regulatory convergence, and gas and renewable energy infrastructure. Discussions on regional trade will include opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area, while separate forums will cover finance, tanker shipping and product distribution.
The programme also includes the 20th Anniversary Industry Dinner and Awards, a Founders' Fireside Forum and a tour of Dangote Refinery. The exhibition will feature refining, trading, shipping, storage, logistics, retail and gas.
NNPC Limited and Nepal Energies have been announced as Gold and Silver sponsors respectively, while exhibition space is 90 per cent sold out. The event has held since 2007.
