The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) is ramping up efforts to enforce the 2010 Local Content Law, aiming to build the capacity of indigenous companies to handle services previously outsourced.
This push aligns with a recent presidential directive to include more local stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to boost petroleum production. Industry players are actively working to ensure the directive leads to increased output.
As part of its nationwide facility tour to assess members’ capacity in line with this directive, PETAN visited Solewant Group, a pipe coating and fabrication company based in Rivers State.
Speaking at the Solewant Development Plant in Alode, Eleme, the National Chairman of PETAN, Wole Ogunsanya, reiterated the association’s commitment to driving local content development and the enforcement of the Nigerian Content Development Act in the oil and gas sector.
Ogunsanya praised Solewant for its capacity building and expertise, supported by industry veterans and Nigerian bank funding. He further noted that PETAN has championed local content development long before the law’s implementation and remains at the forefront of ensuring full compliance within the industry.
