Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu of Matrix, Dr. Abdul Wasiu Sowami of Prudent/Ardova, and Auwalu Abdullahi Rano of AA Rano have emerged as the top three nominees in the Petroleum Depot Owner of the Year category of the Petroleumprice.ng Recognition and Awards 2026.
Aliu leads the category with a 32.1 percent selection score, followed by Sowami with 15 percent and Rano with 4.8 percent.
Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu — 32.1%
Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu is associated with Matrix, a major player in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry with operations spanning petroleum product storage, distribution and supply.
His nomination reflects his involvement in the development and management of petroleum infrastructure supporting product movement within Nigeria’s downstream market.
Aliu recorded 32.1 percent in the selection process, giving him the highest score among the three nominees in the category.
Dr. Abdul Wasiu Sowami — 15%
Dr. Abdul Wasiu Sowami is associated with Prudent Energy and Ardova, companies with interests across petroleum product storage, supply, distribution and downstream energy services.
His involvement in the sector includes participation in petroleum infrastructure and product distribution as Nigeria’s downstream market continues to adjust to changing supply patterns.
Sowami recorded 15 percent in the selection process.
Auwalu Abdullahi Rano — 4.8%
Auwalu Abdullahi Rano is the founder and chairman of AA Rano, an indigenous energy company with interests across petroleum product supply, storage, distribution, and retail operations.
Through AA Rano, he has been involved in the development of downstream petroleum infrastructure and the distribution of petroleum products across different parts of Nigeria.
Rano recorded 4.8 percent in the selection process, placing him among the three nominees competing for the Petroleum Depot Owner of the Year recognition.
Voting in the Petroleumprice.ng Recognition and Awards 2026 is ongoing and will run until October 31, 2026, with members of the public able to participate in the selection process.
The Petroleum Depot Owner of the Year category is one of five categories in this year’s awards, which recognise individuals and organisations contributing to Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry.
