Matrix, Nepal Energies, Ardova PLC, NNPC Limited and MRS Oil Nigeria PLC have emerged as the top five nominees in the Retail Outlet of the Year category of the Petroleumprice.ng Recognition and Awards 2026.

Matrix leads the category with 28.3 percent, followed by Nepal Energies with 20.5 percent and Ardova PLC with 14.1 percent. NNPC Limited recorded 7.1 percent, while MRS Oil Nigeria PLC had 2.4 percent.

The five nominees have established retail operations within Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market, with their businesses spanning the marketing, supply, distribution and retailing of petroleum products.

Matrix — 28.3%

Matrix has a retail business that supplies refined petroleum products to consumers across Nigeria.

The company says its retail operations began in 2014 following the acquisition of Sparklight stations and have since expanded to about 80 established retail outlets across 27 states. Its retail business also includes LPG plants.

Matrix recorded 28.3 percent in the selection process, giving it the highest score among the five nominees in the category.

Nepal Energies — 20.5%

Nepal Energies has operated in Nigeria’s downstream and midstream petroleum sectors since 2004, with interests in petroleum product trading, supply, storage and distribution.

The company says it has more than 60 million litres of storage capacity across Delta and Lagos states and a network of retail outlets supported by its supply and logistics operations. Its product distribution portfolio includes PMS, AGO, DPK, Jet A1, LPFO, Base Oil and LPG.

Nepal Energies recorded 20.5 percent in the selection process, placing it second among the five nominees.

Ardova PLC — 14.1%

Ardova PLC is a major Nigerian petroleum marketer with a nationwide retail network.

The company says it has more than 500 owned, dealer-assisted and dealer-developed retail outlets across Nigeria, alongside storage facilities in Apapa, Lagos and Onne, Rivers State. Its operations cover the marketing and distribution of refined petroleum products.

Ardova PLC recorded 14.1 percent in the selection process, placing it third among the five nominees.

NNPC Limited — 7.1%

NNPC Limited’s retail operations are conducted through NNPC Retail Limited, its downstream retail subsidiary.

NNPC Retail describes itself as an indigenous Nigerian oil and gas company focused on ensuring the last-mile availability of petroleum products to consumers nationwide. Its retail operations include a network of filling stations and dealership, affiliation, and lease arrangements for retail outlets.

NNPC Limited recorded 7.1 percent in the selection process.

MRS Oil Nigeria PLC — 2.4%

MRS Oil Nigeria PLC operates a nationwide retail network through which it markets petroleum products to consumers.

The company says its retail operations include more than 200 outlets, supported by its depot and supply infrastructure. Its main depot in Apapa has a stated storage capacity of 40 million litres and supplies its retail stations.

MRS Oil recorded 2.4 percent in the selection process, completing the five nominees in the Retail Outlet of the Year category.

Voting in the Petroleumprice.ng Recognition and Awards 2026 is ongoing and will run until October 31, 2026, with members of the public able to participate in the selection process.

The Retail Outlet of the Year category is one of five categories in this year’s awards, which recognise individuals and organisations contributing to Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry.
