Petroleumprice.ng Refutes False Circulation Claiming Dangote Ex-Depot Price Dropped to N1,200

Petroleumprice.ng has refuted a false circulation alleging that the Dangote Refinery ex-depot petrol price was reduced from N1,275 per litre to N1,200 per litre, describing the claim as misleading and entirely inaccurate.

The platform clarified that the official price from Dangote Refinery remains N1,275 per litre, contrary to the manipulated reports being circulated across some social media platforms and messaging channels.

According to Petroleumprice.ng, the misinformation stemmed from a deliberate misrepresentation of one of its previous market updates, where Dangote Refinery’s petrol loading price was accurately reported at N1,275 per litre.

The platform stated that at no time did it publish or confirm any reduction of the price to N1,200 per litre.

“Contrary to the false reports currently in circulation, Dangote Refinery has not reduced its petrol price to N1,200 per litre. The verified loading price remains N1,275 per litre,” the platform stated.

Petroleumprice.ng noted that the circulation appears to be an attempt to mislead market participants and undermine the credibility of its pricing intelligence platform, which has consistently provided verified and timely petroleum market data across Nigeria.

The platform urged marketers, depot operators, transporters, and industry stakeholders to disregard the false information and rely only on verified updates published through its official channels.

Industry observers noted that inaccurate pricing reports within the downstream sector often create unnecessary speculation, disrupt supply expectations, and trigger confusion among independent marketers and consumers.

Petroleumprice.ng reiterated its commitment to maintaining accuracy, transparency, and credibility in reporting petroleum product prices and market movements across the Nigerian downstream oil sector.
