Rainoil Limited has acquired MT Princess Oge, a 45,000-metric-ton oil product tanker, in a move that significantly boosts its capacity to support Nigeria’s energy logistics and petroleum distribution. Built in Japan with a deadweight tonnage of 45,996MTS and a draft of 12.072 meters, the vessel made its maiden entry into Nigerian waters and successfully discharged 20,000MT of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at Rainoil’s Ijegun depot in Lagos.
This acquisition comes at a crucial time when Nigeria’s downstream sector is grappling with rising international crude prices, foreign exchange scarcity, and infrastructure bottlenecks that often disrupt fuel supply. Rainoil’s investment underscores its determination to remain a key player while contributing to energy security.
The reception ceremony for the tanker drew Rainoil’s senior executives, including Group Head of Retail Sales, Mrs. Ese Erokoro; Group Chief Financial Officer, Mrs. Uche Umeh; Retail Executive, Ms. Oge Ogbechie; Brand and Corporate Communications Manager, Ifeanyichukwu Omezi; and Trading Manager, Mr. Larry Onwochei.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Erokoro highlighted the operational importance of the tanker.

Nigeria consumes an estimated 50–60 million liters of petrol daily, and a consistent supply remains one of the industry’s toughest challenges. By deploying MT Princess Oge, Rainoil is enhancing its ability to import, store, and distribute products more efficiently, reducing reliance on third-party vessels and minimizing delays in supply to depots nationwide.
The commissioning of MT Princess Oge reinforces Rainoil’s leadership in the energy sector while aligning with broader private-sector efforts to stabilize petroleum availability, improve logistics efficiency, and safeguard the country’s long-term energy security.
