Yabagi Yusuf Sani, the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), has accused President Bola Tinubu of being used to hide corruption within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Sani, who is also an energy expert and former presidential candidate, said during an interview with Channels Television that the issues at the NNPC are worse than those recently uncovered at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He urged President Tinubu to take swift action, warning that Nigerians are growing frustrated.
“The management of the petroleum sector is in terrible shape,” Sani said. “A report revealed that Nigeria lost $1.5 billion in just six months. That’s a conservative estimate from the Obaseki Committee it could be much more.”
Sani expressed concern over how Tinubu became a “shield” for the alleged corruption in the NNPC, insisting that a proper investigation would reveal even bigger scandals.
“We can’t keep turning a blind eye,” he said. “Someone needs to tell the President it’s time to focus on the NNPC. Nigerians deserve better.”
