Tinubu to Inaugurate NUPENG Tower in Lagos on December 4

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to inaugurate the newly completed NUPENG Tower, the national headquarters of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), on December 4, 2024. The event will take place at No. 9 Jibowu Street, Yaba, Lagos, and will be attended by prominent figures, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and key stakeholders from the global oil and gas industry.

A Symbol of Progress and Commitment

NUPENG’s General Secretary, Comrade Afolabi Olawale, described the seven-storey building as more than just a structure. “It represents our collective aspirations and achievements,” he said. The tower aims to provide a modern, efficient workspace for NUPENG staff, enhancing their ability to serve members effectively.

The union highlighted its unwavering support for President Tinubu’s administration and expressed hope that his presence would show solidarity with working-class Nigerians.

Honouring Workers and Strengthening Solidarity

During the event, President Tinubu will be honoured as the Grand Patron of NUPENG. Olawale emphasised that Tinubu’s attendance would demonstrate his commitment to workers and provide a platform for him to address NUPENG members on his Renewed Hope Agenda.

NUPENG, established over 40 years ago, is a major player in advocating for workers’ rights in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. Its efforts have consistently focused on improving working conditions and promoting solidarity among its members.

The inauguration of the NUPENG Tower marks a significant milestone in the union’s history and reinforces its dedication to supporting the nation’s workforce.
