A car powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) exploded at a NIPCO CNG filling station in Benin City, Edo State.
The explosion occurred on Thursday, October 17, 2024, during refueling.
In a viral video obtained by Petroleumprice, numerous individuals sustained injuries as the blast blew out the car’s rear. The victims were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
However, two injured individuals, who missed the initial evacuation, were seen wandering the scene as bystanders urged them to seek medical help.
Eyewitnesses speculated that the gas tank, reportedly welded by a local fabricator, may have caused the explosion.
